I need an intervention

I realized that the only crafty thing I did today was make a small matryoshka plush.  It's gonna be the smallest in a series of three.   Usually I take my craft stuff to work and work on it during my breaks and stuff.  I finished the pillow really quickly, and then had nothing to do,  and I started getting antsy because I didn't have anything else, so I drew some thermoses.   I'll post them and the matryoshka soon.  Actually, I'm gonna wait to post her because I want to post all three at once.  I drew the patterns myself and am very proud!

I'm really tired right now, but still, I really wanna cut out the stuff for the second and third matryoshkas.  That would really take me about half an hour at the least if I wanna do it right, and I'm so tired that I don't think I have the energy and focus to do it right.  Agh! So instead, I think I'll work on another embroidery for my kitchen.  I need two more to complete the area in which I am hanging them.

Next in line, after the pillows, I think I may make some origami stuff and hang it from my ceilings.  I don't know how to do any, but my sister is really good, so I'm gonna have her show me when I go to visit my family in a couple of weeks. 

So, I'm off to find some fabric and stuff to embroider!  I think I may need a craft intervention.

I have a hat!!

I made a hat!  It's the first thing I've ever crocheted.  There are a few imperfections, but all in all, it's really good!  This is the best photo I could get of it, the lighting in here is awful and I look like poop.  I don't usually wear hats, but this one is gettin some publicity tomorrow!

It was super easy.  I must make more!  I need other colors.  I wanted to make a pink one, but I didn't have any pink, and the yarn I want to use is expensive and I'm a cheap person.  But next time, I will do a pink one!  Instructions here:  http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/page/10/

Three Goals

I try to set goals for myself each day to keep me organized.  Today, I had three.

1.  Finish my stargazing embroidery for my Etsy shop.  This is my own design.

 

2.  Start on my ham embroidery for the kitchen.  This is a WildOlive design.

3.  Finish a face pillow.  I got this pattern from Lia's Space (http://www.liaspace.com/).  Mine turned out much smaller and wonkier, but it's because I was lazy.  But I do like it.

So, I'd say I completed all of my goals successfully!  Let's see what I can get up to tomorrow.  I think maybe a few more hair bows and some plus Matryoshka dolls may be in order...we'll see.

My Valentine's Day art!

I made these two for Allen:

I made these for a friend's girlfriend! These are patterns I created- the wood one, I just sort of doodled up and I created the pillow pattern from clip art of a pumpkin and a cupcake.

 

  

And here is what Allen made for me:  

I am very lucky to have such a thoughtful boyfriend.  He is the best thing in the world to me.  He makes me feel very, very special every day, not just on Valentine's Day.  Oh, and he took me out for a fantastic Tex-Mex dinner!

Feeling quite inspired...

I'm feeling very, very inspired of late.  I've started doing little things to spruce up our apartment, and it's looking much better.  I made a few pillows, put some of my pretty ribbon, pompom trim,  and bias tape (I have a ton of vintage bias tape, too) in a big jar, organized my craft area, put some more contact paper stickers up, drew a bunch of stuff I'm gonna embroider, painted some wooden placards I got at Hobby Lobby and put hooks in for my cute measuring cups and spoons, organized my fabric and felt and put it in one of those closet organizer hangers (I have some really cute stuff I need to use!!),  I'm getting better at embroidery and am making a really cute hat, and I'm going to be working on more pillows for around the house, and a few embroideries for the kitchen.  Whew!  PLUS I made a few super cute things for Valentine's Day, some for a friend to give and some for me to give to Allen.  I don't really buy into all of that V-Day junk, but I do like any excuse to make him something cute that expresses how I feel.  I'll be posting pictures of all of it after V-Day.

New Bib Design

Here is a bib I sort of finished.  I'm gonna add a panel of fabric to the back so that the stitches won't show.  I think it came out okay.  I'm not completely happy with it for some reason, though.

I drew the design and got the words from a song called "100,000 Fireflies" by Magnetic Fields.  It's a really good song.   Here's a close up.

Lastly, I have two really ugly pillows in the living room.  So, I went to World Market and got a couple of cloth napkins, and then found some cute fat quarters at Michael's, and I whipped up this cute cover from the fat quarters.  Awww, my kitty loves it.

The napkin one will be posted soon, when I've finished it.

I'm gonna pick a webcam up either today or tomorrow, so I may be posting a few videos here of me being an idiot.  Those are fun.  Bye!
