Christmas Cross Stitches in Action

I was able to decorate this past weekend and display some of my cross stitches!  I have a lot of them and since we don't have the same sort of walls or wall space as we did in our house in Hutto, I can't hang all of them.  I thought I'd display the new ones!

I'm very pleased with how this display came out.  I wanted it simple, but not so simple that it looks unfinished.  I wish the cord for the lights was silver or white.

I Don't Ask for Much for Christmas.

I have had this pattern from The Witchy Stitcher for years.  It was always really intimidating to me, because there is so much going on and with my short attention span, I never thought I'd be able to enjoy and finish it.  Boy, was I wrong.  I think it took me like a week of stitching but I did it!

In our new house, the walls aren't really meant to hang stuff on, I guess, because we have to have concrete drills to make any holes in the walls in most rooms, and in some, there is really cool wallpaper I don't want to hang stuff on, and in OTHER rooms, there is a nice white paneling they have put up that I am a huge fan of... but I plan to frame this and I will find somewhere to display for the holiday!

It's taking me a lot of self-restraint not to decorate for Christmas right now.  I'm usually good until after Thanksgiving but I think it may be because last year, I didn't decorate since we were packing and this year, we're in a new home.  But I'm being good!  I do already have spaces cleared out for decorations, though!

A Blithe Yule

It's a bit early for Christmas stuff in our household but I wanted to start on some Christmas stitching anyway.  We won't put the tree up until after Thanksgiving, and in the new place, there are far less places to put Christmas decor.  But I will definitely frame this up and hang it somewhere.  Pattern is by SirenStitchWorks on Etsy.  It says "A Blessed Yule" in Scottish.  I'm actually shocked at how quickly it came together.  I finished it in two days while watching true crime documentaries after work and on my lunch break!

I kept my 2024 Ort Ornament out last year so I could fill it after I had done all the cross stitching for the year, and since all my Christmas was packed up, I didn't wanna lose it. I just grabbed it and labeled it with my paint markers and I also found, while unpacking craft stuff, the empty one I purchased for 2025 and painted "2025" on it. I can't remember if I started the ornaments in 2021 or 2022... I'll have to wait to fill the new one until the final stitch I do this year. What will it beeeee....? At least I can hang 2024 on the tree this year! It's a little less filled than I remember... but not to worry, I've done more cross stitching this year than any other in the past and so I feel like 2025's MAY be a bit fuller!

Ornament Action Shots

I can't remember if I have posted these, but I can't find them, so if I did, you get reminded of them!

I love how my friend Heidi added my snowflake one to her Yule altar.

This pattern is from Stitch_X_Love on Etsy.  I made it for my sister.

And everyone's favorite (Again for my sister)- Ernamernts!  Pattern by Steotch

More Past Stitches

I found this one on Pinterest and thought it was super cute. I made it to hang in the kitchen.
I found this pattern on Pinterest as well. I made it and I didn't have a Christmas tree for a long time, so I just had it. I gave it to my Mom. She loves it.
I may have posted this one. I thought I was really clever back in 2012. I had a cross stitch app on my phone and this is where I got the pattern for the people.
This one I made for Haylan and Eric, my campy friends in 2011, I think. And they are also camp-y. HA! See what I did there? I can't remember where I got this pattern but I'm impressed that I started cross stitching and pretty quickly decided to use black aida, and I actually did a pretty good job on black aida. It's notoriously a little tricky.

2023 Ornaments So Far

Christmas is my favorite holiday. It's been hard for me the past few years, having lost both grandparents that I was very close to within a year of each other, and they were always so very excited about Christmas. I can't think too much about it, or I'll get sad and I don't want to be sad, so I'll just leave it at that. Christmas makes me miss them, but I really try not to let it get me down too much, because they wouldn't want me to be sad at that time.

I KNOW. It is TOO TOO EARLY to start thinking about Christmas, because we haven't even hit Halloween yet. And I'm honestly only thinking about it because I wanted to get a head start on my holiday stitching. So, I made quite a few ornaments. I usually make one for my sister, one for my mom, and one for all of my friends, and I end up keeping a few for myself.

I did this one from a few different snowflake patterns I have. The fabric is sparkly, but the picture didn't pick that up :(

Stitchmas Past- 2019 Edition

Christmas is fast approaching!  Here are some ghosts from Stitchmas past...

I know I posted the Ermahgerd one before, but I don't think I have posted the others.  The one of the left is a snow globe for which I used Etoile floss but of course, you can't see it.  I made it for my Granny and Grandad.  They are now gone but my Mom always hangs it on her tree.  The middle one is one I made for my mom.  And the other one is a repeat post of Ermahgerd Ernamernts that I made for my sister!  These were all done in 2019.

Sublime Stitching Ornaments

I love Christmas stitching.  It's so cozy and makes me really excited for the holiday!  Here are some Sublime Stitching ornaments I stitched up!  Some are going to my mom and I'm keeping some as well.

I worked on these at my parents' house since i was there for Thanksgiving, which for my family, is the official start of the Christmas season! I love some holiday stitching in the forest!  They remind me of some of the ornaments we had when I was a kid.  I am sure most of those are broken at this point...
