Spooky Stitches

Here are some pieces I've done recently!

Look at this little Michael Myers!  The stitches look shit because the glass on the frame is smooshing them  Boooooo!  I think I yanked the pattern for this one from Pinterest.

Leatherface!  

I don't like how this one came out.  It's from The Witchy Stitcher and it's actually not the entire cross stitch pattern.  I think I was being lazy and just stitched up the words only.  The pattern is fine but I framed it in this stupid frame that doesn't work at all for it.  I think I hate this frame...

I know I found this one on Pinterest and just copied it myself.

2014 Got Away From Me!

I didn't do a lot of embroidery or cross stitching in 2014, so I didn't do any blogging at all.  So,  here I am to make up for it.  Here are a few pieces I completed in 2014!

I downloaded this pattern of little Totoro with a sack!  I finished it in October of last year.  

It must have been this Dia de los Muertos girl Cate Anevski released that made me want to embroider again.

Anyway, let's see what I get up this  year!

Three Skulls, Deedle Dee Dee

 I haven't been doing a lot of embroidery lately.  I've been focused on cross stitching.  Therefore, I have gotten out of practice.

I saw this cute pattern and downloaded it.  Then I stitched it up for a friend's daughter.  However, I really don't like how it came out.  I don't think the stitches look very nice and so I don't know what I'm gonna do with it.  I REALLY hate to throw out projects, even if they're bad.  

Witchy Stitches

Here are some cool pieces I've done recently. They are both Urban Threads patterns.  I stitched these up on a trip to Louisiana to see my husband's family.

Harry Potter and El Snitch de Oro

 I did this one a while back.  I can't remember when because for some reason, I didn't get a picture of it.  I came across it and took a pic recently, so thought I'd post it since I've sort of neglected this blog and I feel bad about it.  Not that many people read it, but it's still fun to do.  

This is a Dia de los Muertos inspired Harry Potter with a Golden Snitch.  I did it on a handkerchief and for some reason, in redwork.  Maybe I was seeing a lot of redwork here and there.  An acquaintance of mine designed this for a tattoo, and I loved it, so I downloaded a pic of the design and stitched it up!  Maybe that's why I didn't post it- I may have been worried she'd get mad about it.  But I just LOVE it and couldn't resist stitching it up.

I think I did this one when we lived in our bigger apartment in the Chevy Chase apartments.  That would have probably been 2011 or maybe last year, but I wanna say it was early 2011.  

Urban Threads

 I love the simple patterns that Urban Threads creates.  They do elaborate ones as well, but I love their simple ones.  They're a nice quick stitch when I'm in the mood to do embroidery.  Here are two I did the other day.

2012 Has Been a Blogging Bust

I have been so busy this year.  This is the last stitchy thing I stitched up this year. Not sure what I'll do with it, but it will probably be gifted at some point.  Maybe I'll gift it to myself.  It's from the Sublime Stitching Kokeshi collection.

I'm Not Dead!

 Hello there.  It's been too long since I've posted and therefore, I have done far too many things between March and now to post, so I will just post what I have been working on recently.

I did take a brief hiatus from much crafting because I just got busy at work and with other responsibilities, so here is a picture of some tiny stitches I have done recently.  They are just adorable.  They come from Makoto Oozu's cross stitch book.  

I plan to make pendants out of all of them but for now, I've just managed to make the one.  I used Mod Podge Dimensional Magic resin and it turned  yellow, which I do not like.  I need to find some that doesn't turn yellow.  I can't make and sell pendants that are yellowish.  It is not a cute look.  Sorry, Mod Podge.

Bazinga!

I am not a fan of The Big Bang Theory, but I came across this pattern on a Pinterest search and wanted to make it for my co-worker Irene.  She is a massive Big Bang Theory fan.  I think she will absolutely love it!

Taste The Piehole

I made this for my friend Holly.  Our side-business is a bakery called Holly's Piehole and she likes to say "Taste the Piehole", which makes no sense but... okay. I just finished it and need to find a frame to frame it up!

The pie pattern is from Makoto Oozu.  I did the rest. 

Welcome, Tiny Overlord

I made this for my nephew and gave this to my sister during her shower.  He is the first grandson, so he is absolutely going to be an overlord for a while.  

Pattern is by Subversive Cross Stitch.

Easy like...well, Saturday Evening

While my friends are enjoying the final bits of SXSW, seeing The Cult (cry!), and having a Rock Band party equipped with a green screen and crazy glam rock costumes, I am home with El Gripe (the flu). boooo! I so wanted to leave and go to a craft store for fabric, stuff to make cute jewelry, and to make more cute stamps with which to decorate some of said fabric, but I know I should be a good girl and stay home. And instead of leaving and risking passing out all dramatic-like in the fabric aisle, I was good, stayed home, and made some new kind of bows.




These are SUPER easy. Here's how I done 'em!

You'll need felt, scissors, a needle and thread and maybe a tape measure. I only used my tape measure to give you all a good idea of how big to cut the felt. Or you can just go at it and eyeball what you think will be a good size.

Cut your rectangle. Mine is 4" x 2.5". Also, cut a little strip of felt for the bow's middle. Round the corners of the rectangle.





Squish the rectangle, like so:





Wrap your strip around the middle and sew, or you can hot glue it. I just don't trust hot glue to hold certain things.

Viola! A cute and really easy bow!

So Good...

 Happy Texas Independence Day!  I am so proud to be Texan.  We have the most interesting history and I love Texas Pride!

I was contacted on Etsy to do a custom piece.  They wanted it to say "So Good", so I created the pattern and sent it over.  They approved it, I stitched it up and in a few minutes I'm going to HEB to sell it!  I will get $15 for it so not bad!  Thank  you, customer whose name I've already forgotten!

Here is a pic of it propped up against my cute thermoses!  How cool is the cross stitch one??

Hair pins and bows and pendants

I have been making these cute hair bows and pins. The pins are fabric buttons I made.








I also stitched up some pendants, just using some random designs. I'm not sure what I think about them. I had to wrap the embroidery around a piece of cardboard so it doesn't really fit nicely into the cabochon. There has to be a better way.

Bees Knees Industries

Just a cute little Cate Anevski/Bees Knees Industries bear for today. I'm sure if she knew I referred to her as "Cute Anevski" she would be annoyed or creeped out, or maybe both.

Mini Bookshelf Wall Hanging

Hi everyone!  It is my birthday and here I am with a DIY!

This is a tiny and cute bookshelf hanging.  Here is how I did it.

You'll need:

• Paint in a color of your choice
• a small wooden plaque
• a miniature bookshelf (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
• miniature books (also at Hobby Lobby)
• wood glue
• a picture hanger

Paint the plaque whatever color you want.  While it's drying, glue the mini books together.

When the glue has dried, pure more glue on the bottom of the row of books and press it onto the bookshelf.

When the books have dried on the bookshelf, glue the whole thing to the plaque.

When that's dry, glue a hanger to the back.  I used Amazing Goop for mine and let it dry for a couple of days.

TA-DAH!

Love is in the Air

This probably fits better in a Valentine's Day post.  However, my sister is getting married in a couple of weeks, so love-themed things are on my mind.

I did this for my boyfriend.  It's framed in a 4" frame and took me about half an hour to stitch up.  I washed and dried it so that it's not all stiff and you can't see the transfer lines.  

What I've Been Doing

Here are some photos of things I've done over the past few months.  The cheeseburger is from Mrs. Wooly and the rest are from the Makoto Oozu book.

I know I promised tons of pictures from the shower, but I haven't gotten around to them yet.  Instead, I've been doing this cross stitch pattern.  It's from a French cross stitch app I have on my phone and it's full of super cute things like this!

Gothy Hand

Jenny Hart from Sublime Stitching is awesome.  She makes the cutest patterns, and oftentimes, gives them away!  I have purchased many from her, and they are totally worth the $3-$5 I have spent on each, but it's also cool when I am broke to get a free one!

Here is a cocktail napkin I did from one of her free patterns.  For some reason, I just REALLY like this pattern.  It's so cute!!

I like the colors I chose for it as well.  I didn't want the trademark black glove and black or red nails.  I can't wait to finish the napkins I bought from her.  I plan to order her blue ones and black ones next!

That Stitchin' Life

I have been working on a lot of projects.  My sister and future brother-in-law's wedding shower is coming up and I've been working on decorations for that.  I can't really do pics now, because she may see, and also, it's a constant work in progress.  I'll be sure to post plenty of pics at the shower, though!

I have done a few more cocktail napkins from Sublime Stitching!  I have really enjoyed doing these. 

Getting Back Into It

I am glad to get back into stitching after having settled into our move and taking time out for myself!

When Life Gets In The Way of Crafting

Busy busy, as usual around here!  I need to write a letter, get my newer items photographed, apply for a booth at an Eco Art fest, frame the last of my Lady Gaga stuff for the benefit for Equality Texas that's the week after next, print and mail invitations to my sister's wedding shower, get a frame for a custom piece I've done, and pack to get ready to go see my parents, and I think that's it.  Whew.  

Here's the last onesie I did last week.  I think it's so cute.  It's another pattern from my Japanese embroidery book.  Look at these classy bespectacled ladies!

New Work

Okay, as promised, here is some stuff I have been working on.  The top onsie is from my Japanese embroidery book.  The second two are patterns from ReviDevi.  And the name tag for my desk at work is from the Sublime Stitching Epic Alphabet!  The onesies need ironing, I know.   

Jordnots

Ever hear of Jordnots? Me either, until I bought some patterns for them from Wild Olive. They're little peanut-shaped characters from Sweden. I don't think I did them justice...

Acorn Head

Being sick can make you very productive if you are a stitcher.  I think the smoke from the wildfires is getting to me.

I have been super busy making more things!  Here are some things I've been working on!

Born this Way

Here is the latest installment of my Lady Gaga collection- these will be available for auction at Gagarazzi later on this year at The Highball in Austin.  The mermaids were a request from a friend.  I wanted to put a unicorn but couldn't manage it, so the mermaids were thus... born.  They are Andwabisabi mermaids.

Here is the fourth and I think final piece.  I just found a crown pattern online and then used an alphabet pattern I have for the words.
