Fridah Kahlo Perler Portrait

I am not super into art, but Fridah Kahlo is my favorite artist besides Van Gogh.  I found out about her in high school and I wrote a paper about her in our Spanish class.  I love her style and she led a very interesting life.  I think she was absolutely beautiful.  I replicated this picture of her using regular sized perler beads.  I am gonna mount it onto a canvas.  It's not super detailed, but I really like how it came out anyway and it was fun to do!

Standard Nerds!

We are huge fans of the show The IT Crowd.  I have cross stitch patterns for Roy, Jen and Moss but had to search far and wide for some to translate for Mr. Renholm and Richmond.  I found one and purchased it, and made this using mini beads!

Valentine's Perler Project

I love when I can get my sweet husband into my little hobbies.  He made this sweet piece for me for Valentine's Day!  He said he made Funko pops of us and then pixelated them to make this.  It's PERFECT!

He is the best.  I just love him!

Recent Perler Art

Here are some more Perler bead pieces I have made over the past week.

Here is one I found on Pinterest.  I'd like to do a little cross stitch of this one too.

Here's the moon in mini beads.

Here is a lily pad I did from Plants V. Zombies. I did it with mini beads.

And here is one I did for Schrute Farms. Not sure what that discoloration is on the top there because it's not on the actual piece. IYKYK...

Horror Perler

Here are some random horror Perler bead sprites I've done.  I honestly can't remember when, because I didn't keep the photos for some reason, but they are on my IG!!  I think I did them in 2021.

Pennywise, Michael Myers, and Jason using regular sized Perler Beads.  Michael looks... weird.

Hannibal Lecter's Mask, Ghostface and Freddy Kreuger's sweater.

Jason by himself

These are so cute!  I made them with mini beads so they're smaller.  We have Michael Myers, a mummy, and Hannibal Lecter.

More Mushrooms!

Here are some more mushrooms I did.  I've wanted to do these for a while.  I used regular sized beadss for this one.  I thought it was really cute.

I've wanted to do this one for a while.  I used minibeads and also was able to use my clear beads for something!

Mushroom Love

I made some really cool mushrooms lately out of both regular size and mini beads!

These didn't come out great... sometimes I melt them too much.

I found these random patterns on Pinterest and made a bunch of bigger ones!  They came out great, I think!

I don't have low self-esteem. I have low esteem for everyone else.

More Daria Love!  I made these using the mini beads and Mounted them in these frames.  I can't put glass in, because the beads are too thick, so let's hope they stay put!

January Perlers

I did a few more Perler bead pieces last night.

This is from a cross stitch pattern.  It's from The Witchy Stitcher's Cryptid Stitch Along.   I just wanted to see how easily it would translate.  I used mini beads.

I did these little cuties from My Neighbor Totoro, also in mini beads.

And here are some Halloween themed ones I did in the regular beads.

Some Perler Art of Late

Here are a few more Perler bead pieces I've done recently...

Misfits Logo

I made this as a coaster using mini beads.

This was gonna be a coaster but I used regular sized beads and it's huge.  It's the carpet from the Overlook Hotel from The Shining.

More to come, trust me.  I can't stop making these!

JTHM

Most of my posts right now are probably gonna be Perler bead related because that's what I'm hyperfocused on right now.  I'll get back on the cross stitch, don't worry!

I found a cool pattern for Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.  If you don't know who that is, I suggest you give it a Google.  They are some of my favorite comics.  I made this one from mini beads.

Since he's a Homicidal Maniac, I thought red was a good choice of canvas colors...

The worst thing about prison was the Dementors

I love The Office so much.  One of my favorite episodes is when the employees say that prison sounds better than work, so Michael decides to teach them a lesson.  They do a play on "Scared Straight", where an inmate comes and gives a speech about how horrible being locked up is.  It backfired...

Simpson, Homer Simpson

My sister is a massive Simpsons fan, and she has passed that love on to my nephew.  I really wanted to make him something cool, so I made this Homer Simpson bursting through the wall.  It didn't really take super long to make him it's a large piece and so ironing it was a little hard.  I'm not great at ironing big projects, and some of the beads didn't quite melt and I had to re-add them and ugh.

But I love how he came out.  I hope my nephew will like it...

Fellowship of the Beads

Okay, so the Perler Bead community is full of fellow nerds, thankfully, and so they post their patterns and finished pieces they did from their fandoms.

I love these Lord of the Rings guys.  I don't know what I'll do with them because I can't really paint shapes and backgrounds, just solid colors, but I'll figure out something.  Maybe I'll make magnets... can you tell the Hobbits apart? Allen says the ring looks like a donut and... well, I can't disagree.  LOL

Invader Zim

I will forever love Invader Zim.  It's so silly, but so cute.  I love that it's getting a revival of late!

I love how this turned out, how the pink is kind of streaky.  It kind of adds to the chaos.  I like doing these bigger pieces for canvases.

Goats in Sweaters and Hobbits

Goats are my favorite animal.  I have this cross stitch pattern by LolaCrow of goats wearing sweaters, and I thought the pattern was translate pretty well to perler beads, so I made these cute little goats using mini beads!

Cross stitch patterns 99% of the time translate into great perler bead patterns, and vice versa!

I think I'll make a fridge magnet from the Baggins' door.  I would love to get a gold brad to put in the middle of this to make it into a gold handle but I'm not buying a pack of 100 for just one...

Pez Perlers and a little Batman and Joker

Well since I am hyper-focused on Perler Bead projects, that's all you're gonna see for a while.

I am a Pezhead and have been collecting since I was 15.  I have about 1500 or more, and I have them displayed in the house.  There was a big gap between this little shelves that I wanted to fill, and so Allen helped me make a Pez sign!  How cool is this?  I made it from the mini beads.

I also really love Batman, and The Joker is my favorite cartoon villain.  It's really easy to find Perler Bead patterns online for free, as people just create them and either post the patterns or the finished products, and then I can just copy them.  They're just for me, so I don't feel bad about it.  I used the regular sized beads for my Batman and Joker pieces, painted some canvases and then mounted them onto the canvas using E-600 craft glue.

I think they look so cool!

Ghost Tea Party

Happy late new year!  Usually I stitch my ass off at the end of the year between gifts and just doing ornaments for the hell of it, and so I need a break.  Sometimes I don't do anything, and sometimes I find another hobby to obsess over.

There are a few companies who make these beads.  I call them "melty beads" (I think the proper term is "fuse beads)  or "Perler Beads", because Perler is the main brand who makes them in the US.  They make larger and smaller beads.  The smaller beads are good for more detailed projects and the bigger ones are ideal for either really large pieces or projects that don't need as much detail.

It's almost like cross stitching but rather than placing Xs of thread on fabric, you place beads onto pegboard and then melt them using an iron.  I really love doing these.

I did this one on New Year's Eve.  It's from a Tusk and Cardinal cross stitch pattern, but I used little beads.  It's a Ghost Tea Party!

Mini Time- 2020 Edition

Happy new year!  2023!  I'm excited to see what this year brings!

Instead of looking forward, we're looking back, again, on this post, and it's Mini Time- 2020 edition.

I think I've probably posted this one- I made a little button out of it.

Stitchy Gifts 2022

Here are some of the stitchy gifts I gave this year! I hope I have not posted these already... This one is from Subversive Cross Stitching. I gave it to Anan and she LOVED it. I knew she would :)
