I finished my diamond painting today! So, it took me a little less than two weeks, not even working on it daily.
I love it so much! I got this specific kit at Hobby Lobby and what made me pull the trigger on getting it is that it came with the hanger already attached. Since I can't put holes in most of my walls due to them being concrete, using some of those Command clear clip hooks are what I used here to hang this one on my bathroom door, and I think it's probably my best bet for hanging these. I did get another kit that's sort of retro-looking flowers but it didn't come with a hanger, so I'll have to get one from Amazon or something and I'll start on that one next. Right now, I'm a little behind on a shawl I was paid to make, and I really want to make more Perler guys because I may start selling them, so I will have to put off starting on that painting.
I learned a couple of things:
1. I am not good at using the multi-placer- that's a special little adapter you can get (it usually comes with a diamond painting kit so I have several) to put in the pen you use to place the little gems/drills onto the canvas, and it allows you to pick up and place several at a time. I suck at it. I found it stressful trying to get the beads lined up in the tray to make them easier to pick up, and then making sure I placed them down just right. So I abandoned that and just started placing them one by one and it made it a lot easier! I'm not in a rush.
2. I got a pen that already has wax loaded into it, that you can just twist the end of and the wax comes to the point of the pen and you can pick up gems/drills that way. Usually, you have to keep dipping the pen into a little chunk of wax. I am not the biggest fan of this pen, because the tip is a bit too big and so when I have worn the wax down, it sort of collects on the side of the tip and then you end up picking up several gems rather than just one. Annoying!
I subscribe to a YouTube channel called Diamond Painting Jim. He's a Scottish dude who now lives in Denmark, and he does really good unboxings and tips/tricks. He reviewed a Diamond Art Club kit and it made me want to get one. They are really expensive, because they are top notch. They make their own gems/drills exclusively and are really high quality. Their kits come with tons of extras. And they license and pay the artist for the art the use in the paintings. So you get what you pay for! He mentioned they have include a pen in their kits sort of like the one I don't like, and I thought since they are a top notch company, maybe I'd like their pen better. I ordered myself a little pack with a coupon I have, and they are some of the smaller projects. I can't remember which ones I ordered and I'm not gonna look because I wanna be surprised.
