Here is a bib I sort of finished. I'm gonna add a panel of fabric to the back so that the stitches won't show and so it won't be so flimsy. I think it came out okay.
I drew the design and got the words from a song called "100,000 Fireflies" by Magnetic Fields. It's a really good song. Here's a close up. The words are my handwriting. It gives it a really personal touch. I think the stitches for the words may need to be a bit lighter, like maybe only use two strands of floss.
Lastly, I have two really ugly pillows in the living room. So, I went to World Market and got a couple of cloth napkins, and then found some cute fat quarters at Michael's, and I whipped up this cute cover from the fat quarters. Awww, my kitty loves it.
I haven't done the one with the napkin, but will do it soon.
You did a great job on the soaps. I bet your friend was happy, eh? I think your bib is very precious. I like the words a lot. They look so pretty. I admire your embroidery skills. How did you learn to stitch? Just practicing a lot or did you get a book? Do you have any suggestions on websites or good books to learn?
ReplyDeleteYour cat looks so cozy there by the pillow. You make me want to go make pillows too. Our apartment needs brightening as well. :)

Hi, Michelle! Thanks so much for your sweet compliments! My friend did like the soaps, she emailed me as soon as she got them to tell me!
ReplyDeleteAs for embroidery, I started out just watching videos on YouTube and Threadbanger.com. On YouTube, look for the Threadbanger channel and they have a video on how to embroider. I just sort of practiced, I embroider A LOT, and I do have a couple of books from which I learned different stitches. I would recommend "Embroidered Effects" by Jenny Hart. She is AMAZING. There are a lot of tips in that book, instructions, and a ton of cute iron-on patterns.
