I haven't posted in a while.  I've been pretty busy this past week.  I started up my workout routine again,  filled a custom order for 10 soaps (!!),  and finished some craft projects.  Here are the fru-eets of my labor.

A friend of mine from high school contacted me about making her 10 soaps for Valentine's Day gifts.  What a process.  I'm still learning, so there were a lot of screw ups and a lot of cursing, but I finally did get the hang of what I was doing, and after I did, it didn't really take long to get them all done.  I didn't get a photo of all of the soaps I made before I wrapped them up, but here is a photo of them wrapped up and ready to go.  Bye bye, little soaps!  I'm sure your new owners will love you!

Here is a bib I sort of finished.  I'm gonna add a panel of fabric to the back so that the stitches won't show.  I think it came out okay.  I'm not completely happy with it for some reason, though.

I drew the design and got the words from a song called "100,000 Fireflies" by Magnetic Fields.  It's a really good song.   Here's a close up.

Lastly, I have two really ugly pillows in the living room.  So, I went to World Market and got a couple of cloth napkins, and then found some cute fat quarters at Michael's, and I whipped up this cute cover from the fat quarters.  Awww, my kitty loves it.

The napkin one will be posted soon, when I've finished it.

I'm gonna pick a webcam up either today or tomorrow, so I may be posting a few videos here of me being an idiot.  Those are fun.  Bye!

  1. You did a great job on the soaps. I bet your friend was happy, eh? I think your bib is very precious. I like the words a lot. They look so pretty. I admire your embroidery skills. How did you learn to stitch? Just practicing a lot or did you get a book? Do you have any suggestions on websites or good books to learn?

Your cat looks so cozy there by the pillow. You make me want to go make pillows too. Our apartment needs brightening as well. :)

  2. Hi, Michelle! Thanks so much for your sweet compliments! My friend did like the soaps, she emailed me as soon as she got them to tell me!

As for embroidery, I started out just watching videos on YouTube and Threadbanger.com. On YouTube, look for the Threadbanger channel and they have a video on how to embroider. I just sort of practiced, I embroider A LOT, and I do have a couple of books from which I learned different stitches. I would recommend "Embroidered Effects" by Jenny Hart. She is AMAZING. There are a lot of tips in that book, instructions, and a ton of cute iron-on patterns.
