Let's Make Cute Stuff Episode One

There are so many cute little projects in "Let's Make Cute Stuff" that I didn't know where to start. I decided to make a couple of little purses. One of the cool things about this book is that it showed me the easiest way to put a zipper in a pouch. I learned to put zippers in from someone who apparently liked to do things in a very complicated way. But now, I can make tons of these. And I am thinking about coming up with my own designs and maybe selling them on etsy. Here is my "Bad Guy" coin purse. It's my first attempt at such a thing, and I think it came out pretty good. Looking closely with my hyper-self-criticizing eye, there are a few things I need to work on, like the stitching is showing a little on the bottom seam, but I'm very pleased with it. So was my boyfriend's cat. I put it on her just fooling around, and then when I took it, she grabbed for it. She was very interested in it. He is super cute, though!

I Will Never Drink Again For A Few Months

I'm recovering from a wild bachelorette party, so I don't have a lot to say. I did these things. I am learning how to make cute felt things. Tomorrow, I'm getting the "Let's Make Cute Stuff" book I posted about earlier. I made some little templates and stuff, and I wanted to test what sort of thread I needed to use. Here is a cute pouch. It's so tiny, like only a rat could use it, but still.
I finished the thing I was doing for my sister's new apartment. I used a pattern I got from SublimeStitching.com and then just printed out what I wanted it to say in a cute font I downloaded previously. I think it came out really good.
And here is another WildOlive pattern. Aww :)
I'll be posting more felt projects later this week. I hope everyone had a good weekend.

New Endeavors

I've been a busy bee learning new crafty things and discovering new things.

1. I got a yo-yo maker to make yo-yos. In case you don't know what they are, the easiest way to describe is that they are round discs of gathered fabric that you can embellish to make a bunch of stuff. I've only made two and I need A LOT more practice. The two I made are at work, I'll bring them home and photograph them and then post them here in an edit.

2. I'm TRYING to learn to crochet. I can do a chain stitch, but just barely. I have a lot of practicing to do.

3. I just got my Black Apple pattern in from Sublime Stitching. I can't wait to start on it. I actually have SO MANY patterns now that I never know what to stitch next.

4. I went through all of the patterns I've printed from downloads and wrote down what I've printed out. I made table of contents pages by just pasting together smaller images so when I put all of them in my binder, I'll know where to find things more easily. I still have a ton I need to print out as well.

My friend is getting married next weekend and she's asked me to do the cake. I spoke to a friend who is going to help me with the cake. We filmed the first episode of what is possibly going to be a cooking show on YouTube, maybe even a podcast one day. I've busted my ass at the gym. All of this, and I still found time to embroider a couple of things:

Here is a bee. I found this picture online and decided to do my own. It's got a funky leg that I screwed up on. Man, I suck ;)

And here is another WildOlive pattern. It was sort of hard to get the little stitches just right, that's something I need to work on. BUT I did learn how to do a French knot, which I used for the eyes.
I am a visual learner, and some things, I have to actually watch being done before I can do them. I read a ton of explanations on how to make French knots, and I tried and tried, and finally gave up. Then I decided to stop being a jerk, and I found a video on YouTube for French knots. They are SO easy. And all I needed to do was watch them being done. Yay!

Summer Weekend Fun

Okay, this week should be much less hectic than the past two. The only crafty things I did last were the following small embroidery projects: I found these two cute little patterns while just browsing around online for embroidery pictures. They look like the work of WildOlive, but I'm not sure if they are:
I ordered a whole mess of food themed patterns from Wild Olive a few weeks ago and will post them as I stitch them.
I do plan to try my hand at a few other projects this week. I'm working on a really cute skirt, too. I'll post as I finish the projects. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Slackerific

I've been super busy, and here are some things I've made the past week during my busy streak. I embroidered these cute little cherries. Unfortunately, I chose some evil, evil fabric, and it puckered a bit. But I still think it looks okay! The design is from Kitschy Digital Goods
And I covered some buttons with some nice fabric. I put magnets on the back and sent them to a few friends.
I did this one earlier in the month.
I've been so busy the past couple of days, though, that I've not done much crafty stuff. I'm going through withdrawals. I'll post more this week.

An Invitation To Your Damnation

Hi, everyone. Thanks for having a look at my new blog. This is the third one I've done. The other two were cooking blogs. I love cooking, but the thing is, I do tend to make the same things over and over, only making something new every couple of weeks or so. This blog will be about crafting and making things, decorating, random stuff, tshirt surgery, recycled crafts, and I'm sure I'll post a few recipes as well. Like this one for a Grand Mariner Margarita: 1 shot Grand Marnier 1 shot tequila 1.5 shot margarita mix Serve stirred, not shaken. Take that, James Bond. It's also important that the liquor is chilled. Anyhow, back to the blog. I will post pictures of stuff I like, stuff I want to make, stuff that I am working on, stuff that I have finished, stuff that inspires me, food, and probably a picture here and there of my cat being adorable. Also, if you don't know me in real life, it's only fair to warn you that my mind works in very random ways, so I may go off on a random tangent (must like the margarita one above), or ramble. So anyhow, I hope this blog is enjoyable and I hope it inspires or at least motivates people to be creative, make their own stuff, recycle things into crafts, and be creative.
