Stitchy Gifts 2022

Here are some of the stitchy gifts I gave this year! I hope I have not posted these already... This one is from Subversive Cross Stitching. I gave it to Anan and she LOVED it. I knew she would :)
I gave this one to Eric. It's a Scottish well-wish. Pattern is by SikaStitch on Etsy.
This one I gave to Haylan. She saw the purple one I did and loved it so much and so of course I had to do Halloween colors for the Queen of Halloween!
Here's to another year of stitching!

Stitchmas Past- 2019 Edition

Christmas is fast approaching!  Here are some ghosts from Stichmas past...

I know I posted the Ermahgerd one before, but I don't think I have posted the others.  The one of the left is a snow globe for which I used Etoile floss but of course, you can't see it.  I made it for my Granny and Grandad.  They are now gone but my Mom always hangs it on her tree.

The middle one is one I made for my mom.  And the other one is a repeat of Ermahgerd Ernamernts that I made for my sister!  These were all done in 2019.

The Witchy Stitcher Cryptid Stitch-Along: The Jersey Devil

The Jersey Devil is a creature dwelling in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.  Legend has it that in 1735, a witch named Mother Leeds gave birth to a horrifying monster with glowing red eyes that flew up the chimney of her home and disappeared into the Pine Barrens.  It is often described as a kangaroo-like creature having hooves, horns, a forked tail, bat wings, and a head that looks something like a horse.  Its screams are said to be quite chilling.  Belief in the Jersey Devil is quite real and based on records of concrete occurrences.  To this day, people traveling down the Garden State Parkway or the Atlantic City Expressway report sightings and tell stories of strange occurrences.  Many continue to believe that the legendary being is still around disturbing the region and will continue to do so for generations to come.- The Witchy Stitcher, Cryptid Wiki, Pine Lands Alliance

The Witchy Stitcher Cryptid Stitch-Along: Mothman and Fresno Nightcrawler

I purchased this Stitch-along a while back, I don't even remember when.  Maybe 2019?  Maybe later.. regardless, I can never do these things properly.  I don't have the patience to stitch the entire frame first or to deal with a giant piece of fabric, so I decided to do all of these separately!  I haven't heard of many of the cryptids in the stitch-along, so this is going to be a cool lesson as well!

Here are the first couple.  I did Mothman about a year ago, and I just finished the Nightcrawler earlier this week.

The Fresno Nightcrawler is also known as the Fresno Alien and has been spotted in Fresno, CA in Yosemite National Park.  Though there have only been a few sightings, they have amassed quite the cult pop culture following.  They appear to be relatively short creatures (approx. 1.5 m) with most of their height being made of their legs and an extremely small upper body.  It is an extremely thin, white humanoid with no arms.  As a cryptid, little is known about it.  Its presence in grainy security camera footage leaves more questions than answers.”  The Witchy Stitcher, Cryptid Wiki, and Weirdo Fresno

Serenity Now, Insanity Later.

We are big Seinfeld fans in this house, and Frank Costanza is one of my favorite characters. There was an episode where he was taught the mantra of "Serenity now", and what was so funny is that rather than calmly say it, he would shout it at the top of his lungs in times of stress. That character is so funny. Later in the episode, the person who taught him the phrase taught him the rest of it... "Serenity now... Insanity later." This pattern is by Stitchesbylibby on Etsy.

(Not) Wasted Time

I don't have much to say. I just really love this quote. I found it and then I created the letters from an online alphabet generator. I made this one back in 2013.

Elvis's Last Words

My husband is a huge fan of the TV show The Orville. If you've not seen it, it's a show by Seth Macfarlane that pays homage to Star Trek, mostly Star Trek: The Next Generation. It's REALLY good. It's equally funny and dramatic, and overall pretty light-hearted. There is an episode where the captain of The Orville is in a situation where he is about to die and he shouts "I'm going to the bathroom to read!" When he doesn't die, his first officer asks "What the hell was that?" and he says "It was Elvis Presley's last words, it was all I could think of." I scoured the internet for a small, simple toilet cross stitch pattern and found one on an Google image search. I added the words from an online alphabet generator. I gave it to my husband as a random surprise, and he hung it in his bathroom (it's really the guest bathroom but he uses it more often than our master because it's right beside the livingroom). No disrespect meant to Elvis, btw.

The Witchy Stitcher Cryptid Stitch-Along: The Enfield Horror

The Enfield Horror is a cryptid observed by several people in 1973.  Also known as the Enfield Monster, this disturbing looking beast makes its home in Enfield, IL.  The Enfield Horor is described as having no less than three legs, grayish slimy skin, clawed hands and reddish eyes.  It has been described as humanoid or ape-like in appearance and boasts impressive speed and agility.  It is said to screech like a wildcat.  While frightening in appearance, it was reported to have done no real damage- The Witchy Stitcher, Cryptid Wiki, Ranker

A grown man is upset because he can no longer be aroused by candy characters.

Y'all, Tucker Carlson has lost his fucking mind about the new M & M character not identifying as male or female and it's the talk of the fucking country. It's ridiculous and downright hilarious. He's mad because he can't fap to candy anymore I guess. A grown man is upset because he can no longer be aroused by candy characters. He went on a titty-baby tirade on his show and said "Miserable non-binary candy is all we deserve". And the cross stitch community DID NOT DISAPPOINT, no siree.

Thank you, ScreamingHeartDesign. I chose green because I like the green M & Ms.

NOMFP.

Since I saw the episode of The Thick of It where Malcolm said that the MOD overspend was "NOMFP", it has become my mantra. It's my "Serenity Now!". I use it at work because I fucking hate it there and somethings are honestly just... Not My Fucking Problem. And so I can't be arsed. I created this piece to commemorate it. I have adopted this as my mantra and I encourage all of my friends to do the same.

Neil, bathroom's free!

I have loved The Young Ones since my early 20s. It is ridiculous and really pretty stupid and lowbrow. However, it's also really funny. And I love mid-80s British TV. Hell, I love most British things in general. This pattern is from our British friends over at 8bitnorthxstitch on Etsy. I love their patterns. And I don't know which Young One I like better- Rik or Vyvan. Maybe Rik. RIP.
